Bank

Banka

It is generally recommended not to change money in the Airport (change only $20-30). You will get a better  price at the exchange offices called Döviz Bürosu. Check rates and compare. Do not try to change your money at local banks, they charge a commission. It is also recommended not to bring traveler's checks. You can have difficulties to cash them.

It's better to use cash, USD or EURO currencies.
Turkish banks have the following working hours:

08.30 to 12.30
13.30 to 17.30

Banks are closed on Saturdays, Sundays and official holidays.

ATMs of banks accept cards. All major credit cards are accepted. ATMs are widely available in large cities and tourist areas (including small towns). They usually do not let you to choose language to carry out the transaction in. Furthermore, in smaller places, you might have trouble finding one that takes your card. Machines are not always reliable, so it is advisable to carry an extra day's cash. If one bank's ATM is not working, other banks nearby may well remain operational.
